NY style Salsa (mambo) is danced to the rhythm of the congas and the techniques used allow for quick turns and direction changes, complex partner patterns and more body movement while dancing on a crowded dance floor. Each class will start with an open footwork combination (shine) and continue to a partnerwork combination. The shines portion of the class is a great way to improve balance, timing, speed and coordination and will start you on your way to being able to be creative when your partner lets go of you on the social dance floor. In the partnerwork section, increasing emphasis is placed on style and musicality as we work on more complex turn patterns and techniques. Instructor permission required to join. No partner required. | |
